About Recreation Soccer
The Lenoir Youth Soccer Association, in cooperation with the Lenoir Recreation and Parks Department, offers the Recreation Program as an "in house" program that, dependent on registration numbers consists of 6U, 8U, 10U, and 13U teams. These teams play small sided games as recommended by the United States Youth Soccer Association. This program is called "in house" because there are enough teams within our league to play against each other.
The Recreation Program is open to all applicants regardless of ability - dependent only on facility space and coach availability.
The "Rec Program" has both a Fall Season from August through November and a Spring Season from March through May.

What ages can play recreation soccer?
If we have adequate numbers registered we support 6U, 8U, 10U, and 13U teams divisions. The "U" stands for "Under", so basically 4 year olds through 12 year olds.
How do I know what age division my child should play in?
The appropriate age division is based on the calendar year of January 1st thru December 31st.
What days are practices and games?
Each coach schedules his or her own team's practices. Most teams practice during weekday evenings at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex or Wilson Athletic Field. The game schedules depend on registration numbers, but, as a general rule, games are scheduled on weeknights at 5:30pm, 6:00 pm, or 6:30 pm at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex. LYSA tries to avoid scheduling games on Wednesday and Friday nights. Occasionally, it becomes necessary to schedule some Saturday games. Teams usually have about 2 practices/games scheduled each week. Teams should not have more than 3 practices/games in a week.
What equipment do players need?
All players receive a uniform soccer jersey that is worn for games. Players should bring their own soccer ball (size 3 for 6U & 8U age divisions and size 4 for 10U & 13U age divisions) and water to practices and games. Shin guards are required with black soccer socks worn over top of them. Black soccer shorts are preferred. Soccer cleats are also highly recommended, but sneakers may be worn. Football/baseball cleats will not be allowed. They have an extra toe cleat that can become dangerous with a kick.
What team am I on?
Coaches will contact all players on their team after teams have been formed.
How do I sign up to volunteer as a coach?
Please indicate your interest in volunteering on the application and/or email [email protected]. Please provide your name, best contact phone number & email address, and the name & birth year of your child if he/she is playing.
All new and returning coaches must fill out a NCYSA Risk Management Application and pass a background check (there is no fee charged to you for this check).
As part of this application, coaches will need to complete an online Sexual Abuse Awareness class.
When filling out your application, please select the following:
